Full approved wording
This medicine is used to treat male pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia).
How to use
After drying the hair and scalp completely, apply 0.5–1 mL of this medicine to the affected area only, twice a day (morning and evening), for at least 4 months. Do not exceed a total of 2 mL a day.
Before you use it
Do not use this medicine if you are hypersensitive to it, if you are female, if you are under 18, if you have cardiovascular disease (coronary artery disease, arrhythmia, congestive heart failure, valvular heart disease, high blood pressure whether treated or untreated, low blood pressure), if your hair loss is not hereditary, if hair loss is sudden and patchy, if your scalp is abnormal (redness, inflammation, infection, irritation or pain, psoriasis, sunburn), if the cause of hair loss is unknown, if you have shaved your scalp, or if you did not tolerate the 2% strength well. Before using it, consult a doctor or pharmacist if you are elderly, or if you have oedema or a thyroid disorder (hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism). If you miss a dose, do not make it up — simply apply the next dose as scheduled. For external use only; do not use anywhere other than the scalp. Do not use occlusive dressings. This medicine can burn and irritate the eyes, so take care to keep it out of them; if it touches sensitive areas such as the eyes, broken skin or mucous membranes, rinse immediately with clean water. Wash your hands thoroughly after use. Apply styling products only after this medicine has dried, and when using it in the evening, apply it 2–4 hours before bed so that it can dry. Air circulating over the scalp can reduce the effect of this medicine, so do not use a hairdryer to speed up drying.
Do not use with
While using this medicine, do not use it together with other scalp medications, topical corticosteroids, retinoids, petrolatum, dithranol, other agents known to enhance absorption through the skin, or vasodilators such as guanethidine.
